Minutes of the Enjoy and Achieve meeting held 15th July 2009

Item 1: Welcome

Joyce welcomed everyone to the meeting and introductions were made around the table.

Item 3: Notes of last meeting and matters arising

Minutes agreed as accurate
1:1 Tuition available for all children who need it. Not to be undertaken in core school time. Can we undertaken during school time outside of core time, after school or in the child’s home. It is hoped that the 1:1 tuition will have a significant impact on the children. For LAC there have been positive outcomes.

Item 4 – Connexions Peer Education Project

  • Peer education project has been running since 2006
  • Increased no of year 10’s who project delivered to
  • Retention and outcomes – have increased
  • Young people can gain qualifications on the project – level 2 in sexual health and level 1 counselling
  • No of schools involved has increase to 9 schools
  • No of sessions increased.
  • Registration of “C” card increased
  • The majority of evaluation forms score at 9/10
  • Emphasis is now on progression
  • Recruitment process has changed – spread the net wider
  • Structured induction day
  • 100% attendance this time
  • Activity allowance – funding to allow young people to attend activities
  • Look at all 5 outcomes
  • Peer Ed to progress to teens and tots.
  • Can progress to a level three childcare qualification

Discussion followed.

Q) How many hours are involved?
A) This varies – it depends on circumstances – but there are a set amount of sessions they must attend

Q) Is the project targeted?
A) Schools are selected – risk factors looked at . We are encouraging more schools to sign up.

Joyce asked the group to think about what this group can do.

Lyndsey said that there were now Friday and Saturday evening activities

The report card was judged as heartening
