Labour has retained control of Tameside Council in this week’s election.
They retained 13 seats, lost 2 and gained 1 new seat in yesterdays polls.
The Conservative Party retained 3 seats and gained a further 2.
Meanwhile, the Liberal Democrats lost their last remaining seat in Audenshaw.
There was no change in the Mossley ward where the Independent’s retained their seat.
The make up of the council is now 44 Labour, 10 Conservative and 3 Independent.

Four out of five people living in Tameside are happy with the borough as a place to live.
That’s according to research carried out for the Council by pollsters IPSOS MORI.
Maintaining a low level of crime remains the top priority for local people.
The top priorities are:
- Low levels of crime
- Clean streets
- Good public transport
- Good schools
- Good shopping facilities
The Council’s own newspaper ‘ The Citizen’ has been cited as one of the main sources that residents use to find out information about the council and its services. This is up by 9 per cent on the last survey.
Use of the World Wide Web has also increased significantly since the last survey in 2005 with 60% of residents now having access to the internet.
