Plans to improve Tameside's secondary schools took a giant leap forward recently when the borough council appointed Inspired Spaces to deliver a £300 million school building programme.

The money will mean better secondary schools across the borough.

A spokesman for Tameside Borough Council described the project as the biggest investment young people’s education in a generation.

Nearly 15,000 visitors a month are flocking to the new look Hyde Library, more than double the previous number.

Children now have more space and better computer facilities, there's coffee and cold drink on tap and there are even automatic blinds in the atrium to keep streaming sunlight out of readers’ eyes.

350 new jobs will be created in Tameside following a decision by the Borough Council to approve a planning application from Findel Education to locate its divisional headquarters in the borough.

Findel Education already has offices in Tameside and currently employs 300 people.

And finally, Denton is to get a touch of romance thanks to the borough council.

The town’s new civic square will feature a plaza fountain.

It’s part of a makeover that will make the square a must-be-in location for key events.
