Hello and welcome to Tameside’s 60 second news, I’m Beverley Brooks. 

Twenty-five children’s play areas across the borough are to be redeveloped or built thanks to a £1million government grant.

Work commences in the summer and will take around three years to complete.

Future West End stars from local schools have been given a boost by the Royal Northern College of Music.

The College has teamed up with three borough schools to select gifted pupils to take part in their production of West Side Story.

A Tameside man’s been fined £500 and ordered pay £1500 prosecution costs after being found guilty of fly tipping.

54 year old John Kelly of Mossley pleaded guilty in Manchester Crown Court to an offence under Section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act after dumping building waste.

A woman who’s been looking after children for nearly 60 years has called it a day.

Jean Adam who began child-minding in 1950, has cared for dozens of children over 6 decades, as well as raising her own family of four.

This year alone, she received 41 mothers’ day cards. Well done Jean.

And finally the local elections are looming and viewers are reminded that the cut off for postal votes is 5pm on April the 16th. More information and candidates can be found on the website.
