15 weeks - 3 hours per week

Venue/Times

This course is run at our main site at Learn@St Ann's on Burlington Street in Ashton Under Lyne and at Hyde Library.

Mornings: 9.00am - 12.00pm

Afternoons: 1:00pm to 4:00pm

Evenings: 5:00pm to 7:30pm

Entry Requirements

Have completed the Start IT course or have basic computer skills.

Main Objectives

These qualifications recognise achievement of functional skills in ICT at Entry level. Learners who achieve at:

Entry 1 will have ICT abilities that range from the most elementary of achievements to beginning to make use of skills, knowledge or understanding that relate to the immediate environment.

Entry 2 will have ICT skills, knowledge and understanding to carry out simple, familiar tasks with guidance.

Entry 3 will have ICT skills, knowledge and understanding to carry out structured tasks in familiar contexts, with appropriate guidance where needed. 

It is also for learners who want to progress to level 1 but currently need greater support to achieve level 1.

  • To create and edit word processing documents
  • To save and organise your work
  • To search and surf the internet
  • To send / receive e-mails
  • To identify ICT based environmental hazards
  • To safe working practice whilst using ICT based communication

Materials Required

All learning materials provided.

Assessment Methods

These qualifications are internally assessed by the centre and externally moderated by OCR. The Assessment will last up to 2 hours and will result in either a Pass or a Fail

Possible Progression Routes

You will be able to progress to a higher-level course in computer skills, for example CLAiT
