2012 Tameside 50/50 Apprenticeship Scheme
It’s back for the 2012 New Year!
What is it?
- The scheme aims to recruit 50 new apprentices in 50 days (50/50)
- Tameside Council will provide up to 50 grants of £1000 to employers who take on a 16-, 17- or 18-year old Tameside resident as an apprentice
- Apprentices need to be recruited from those not in education or who are unemployed or facing unemployment
- Payment of the grant takes place 20 weeks after registration as an apprentice
- Employers currently benefit from free training for 16-18 year olds
- Assistance is given with :
- recruiting eligible young people, who are suitably qualified to be an apprentice
- linking employers to a local Apprenticeship Training Provider
Which employers can benefit?
- Any employer – as long as you are not part of TMBC or a beneficiary of its direct funding
- You do not need to be a Tameside employer – but must recruit an apprentice from Tameside
- We particularly want to support small and medium sized employers who are interested in employing an apprentice for the first time, or who want to employ an additional apprentice over and above their traditional level of recruitment.
When will the 2012 Tameside 50:50 Apprenticeship Scheme be available?
- The scheme will be formally launched on 6 February 2012
- Expressions of interest , or requests for more details, may be lodged from 18 January 2012 – either through an apprenticeship training provider or by contacting us below.
- There are a maximum of 50 places available. If over subscription applies, these will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
