Reprographics Policy

Policy Outline

Tameside Local Studies and Archives will endeavour to provide copies of material in our collections wherever possible subject to the following restrictions:

• Permission must be sought from the Local Studies Librarian or Archivist before copies in any format are made.
• Copying of fragile material may not be allowed. This includes bound volumes where the spine may be damaged through photocopying.
• Time constraints may apply to large orders.
• Where copies are required for publication a copy of any resulting publication, for example a book or article, should be deposited with Tameside Local Studies and Archives.
• Digital images will not be mounted on any website without prior permission from the Archivist or Local Studies Librarian.

Special restrictions also apply to the Manchester Regiment Archive Collection:

Copies of complete documents from the Manchester Regiment Archive may not be made without the prior consent of the Depositor.

Written permission must be obtained before any form of reproduction (e.g. any sketch, drawing, painting or photograph) is made for any purpose and due acknowledgement to the collection must be made. A copy of the final reproduction is required by the Archivist. A fee may be charged.

Charges

Minimum charge for look-up service (for postal, telephone and email enquiries) £7.24. This includes up to 2 free A4 copies (photocopy / printing / microfilm print) & postage. Additional copies £1 A4, £1.75 A3 
A4 copies 15p, A3 copies 25p. 

Digital photographs

We cannot currently provide digital photographs of items in our collection, customers are welcome to take their own photographs when they visit us and a copyright form must be completed. The charges are as follows:

Copies done by staff or public in search room £1

Tameside Image Archive

This is an online database of over 20,000 old photographs and other images of the Tameside area. Digital copies (in JPEG format) can be ordered on-line from our website. Access the image archive.

Any images with copyright problems will give the option to email us rather than purchase the image.

Reproduction right fees are charged for reproduction in books or other publications or for use on television. Please contact us for more information and see our Policy for Use of Archives by the Media on our website.

Licence Fees

Possession of material supplied to us does not carry with it any rights to reproduce. Permission to reproduce or exhibit material must be sought from Tameside Local Studies and Archives. The following charges apply. VAT will be added to all reproduction charges. Fees are per image. In some circumstances these fees are negotiable. Discount will be offered to community groups, charities and bulk orders. Discounts of 20% will be offered for orders of 5 images or more.
