Ashton Outdoor Market - Open on Saturday

The lively and vibrant outdoor market in Ashton-under-Lyne will open for business this Saturday and the monthly Farmer's Market will run on Sunday.
Around half of the outdoor stalls on the market ground will be open as usual, while work continues to make safe the historic market hall which was severely damaged in Tuesday's fire.
Shoppers won't miss out on their usual favourites as the regular Saturday traders will be selling their usual extensive range of goods. Markets bosses are delighted that some traders from the indoor market will also be able to take stalls.
It is going to be a busy weekend in Ashton as the annual Black Knight Pageant and Family Fun Day takes place at the Old Cross Street Car Park on Sunday.
Cllr Kieran Quinn, Cabinet Deputy for Economic Services said:
"We will be really delighted to welcome shoppers to our markets this weekend. It's been a very difficult few days but everyone has rallied round and we've seen the real spirit of Ashton people.
"The markets play a vital role in the economic engine that is Ashton and we are working hard to establish the alternative market site. In the meantime it will be great to see the outdoor market up and running again. The markets attract thousands of visitors to Ashton and we are sure its reputation as a vital."
