Consolidation of Learning Team (COLT)
Our Consolidation of Learning Team (COLT) 
ensure equality of opportunity and access to education provision for all pupils arriving from overseas and additional support for pupils from Traveller, Refugee or Asylum Seeker backgrounds, who either live or attend schools in Tameside.
The service identifies and aids in the removal of barriers to education for Traveller and Asylum Seeker pupils by home/school liaison; raising cultural awareness and promoting anti racism through inset, training and provision of cultural resources.
The service aims to meet the individual needs of the children and our initial support is in helping families new to the borough to find suitable school places.
COLT supports children's admission to school and provides in school support where appropriate, aimed at helping children settle into class, relate to their peers and thereby enhancing the children's attainment and achievement.
