Tameside

This is another matter of fact and understated approach but which contains within it tremendous achievement on actions, on innovation, and on inclusivity. Their approach highlights the importance of commitment and trust and the basis for genuine partnership working. The Panel recommend Tameside for beacon status.

Vision and Strategy

There is a clear vision and commitment to the CLSP, and excellent links to social inclusion, and to the Local Strategic Partnership, underpinned by high level council involvement and a clear commitment to undertaking a leading role within the CLSP.

Consultation

There is an excellent programme of consultation through MORI, Citizen 2000, and other methods of ongoing feedback, as well as the use of a well-received consultation day and feedback through district assemblies.

Partnerships

There is a very strong sense of partnership, and a real understanding of how to make partnership work and of what the important ingredients are in making it work. There is a strong link to other initiatives.

Actions

Tameside have linked funding with obtaining the Quality Mark, and actively support the process through officer support. There is a strong commitment to performance management, use of a Concordat which has been used as a regional model, and the development of an award winning website.

Outcomes

The council's statement of funding principles is a framework for more integrated funding by both the council and its partners based on local needs. This is supported by the sharing of information on funding priorities. The joint investment plan for CAB with the local Legal Services Commission is a good example of partnership working leading to real outcomes.

User and Community Satisfaction

The Citizens Panel, the joint/user/provider/funder workshops, and the district assemblies all provide opportunities for significant feedback.
