What was involved in the Open Day?
Tameside MBC is a 4 star, improving strongly council whose Adult Services have been ranked top in the country.
Join us in sharing Tameside’s experience of engaging our diverse community in the planning, commissioning and delivery of services and how we have engaged with hard to reach groups across the borough.
A choice of Adult Service focussed workshops included:
- Involving Service Users and Carers in commissioning and procurement – This workshop focused on how service users and carers have been involved in service design, tender specification and contract award and subsequent contract monitoring for multimillion pound contracts.

- Engaging older people in service planning and design – This workshop focused on the Council’s process of involving older people in service planning and design, and how we train and subsequently support people to become effective representatives.

- Consulting BME communities in Tameside – A focus upon outreach work to engage members of BME communities, this workshop also includes a session on Tameside’s successful bi-lingual co-worker scheme.
- Reducing the impact of disability - How people with disabilities have a voice in to the wider corporate and strategic partnership agendas

- Listening to Carers - Location, location, location – A focus upon the various levels of communication used with carers and the positive impact this can have upon services.

- Engaging People with Learning Disabilities in developing an extra care housing scheme. - This session focused on the successful involvement of people with learning disabilities and their carers in the development of a groundbreaking purpose built extra care housing facility. There was also a ‘market place’ where delegates could visit various stalls to find out how services have actively engaged with our citizens to deliver services they value. Stalls included:
