Consultation 2003
Consultation 2003
Bereavement Services
Introduction
On behalf of the staff at Tameside Bereavement services section we would like to thank everyone who took the time to take part in our annual bereavement services consultation.
We are grateful to those of you who completed questionnaires, wrote to us personally or attended one of our 'Friends of the Cemetery' meetings.
Consulting customers directly helps us to prioritise the issues important to you and to learn what aspects of the service needs tailoring to meet your needs.
Questionnaire Results
During April 2003, bereavement services staff asked bereaved families and visitors to complete questionnaire about the service they received. This annual consultation exercise is now part of our business plan in order to continually improve.
It is high on our list of priorities to ensure that the service is managed with the feelings and needs of all our customers in mind.
The response received from these questionnaires is a valuable tool to enable us to do this.
Here are some of the results:
68 questionnaires were given out and 43 were returned.
The questionnaire was broken down into 5 categories. These were:
- Facilities
- Access to the service
- Staff
- Information and choice
- Overall satisfaction
Of those returned:
- 82% rated the facilities as average or better.
- 89% rated access to the service as excellent.
- 100% rated attitude of staff as excellent.
- 87% rated quality of information as good.
- 91% said overall satisfaction was good.
Problems highlighted:
- Public toilets are required at Denton Cemetery.
- Additional memorial facilities required at Ashton Cemetery.
- Disabled access required at Droylsden Cemetery.
- Improved signage at all cemeteries with opening times being clearly displayed.
Positive Feedback:
- Delighted with new footpaths.
- Crematorium chapel appearance.
- Cemetery/Crematorium records online.
- Choice of Memorials on offer.
Friends of the Cemetery Meetings
This initiative developed in 2002. Whilst attendance has been minimal, the discussions and topics raised have been extremely beneficial to the continued improvement of the service.
Issues raised have included:
- Security in cemeteries.
- Headstone safety.
- Environmental Issues.
- Fees and Charges
We will take all these issues on board!
Once again many thanks for taking part in Year 2003 Consultation. We do value your comments.
