Laurence Stephen Lowry

1887 - 1976

The plaque to this famous north country artist is on The Elms, Stalybridge Road, Mottram which was his home from 1948 until his death in 1976. Lowry's paintings document the lives of ordinary people in the industrial communities of the north west.
