History of Dukinfield Town Hall

External View of Dukinfield Town HallDukinfield Town Hall was built in Domestic Gothic Style. It was opened on 15th June 1901 by Alderman James Pickup, and cost £15,000 to erect from plans by J. Eaton and Sons of Ashton.

The clock is by J.R. Joyce of Whitchurch, and the five bells were cast by Taylor and Co of Loughborough.  Nowadays the town hall doubles as the borough register office and as a leisure centre.

J B Joyce & Co was established in 1690, and is arguably the oldest clockmaking company in the world. It became part of the Smith of Derby Group in 1965 www.smithofderby.com Link to External Website Information on William Potts & Sons available here: www.smithofderby.com/v2/projects/About%20us/pdf/AboutWmPotts.htm Link to External Website
