Freemen of the Borough

Enrolments in respect of distinction conferred by the Dukinfield Town Council, pursuant to the Honorary Freedom of Boroughs Act 1855, and the Local Government Act 1933, in recognition of eminent services to the town.

Each one of the above is a former mayor of Dukinfield, except for Sir Charles Henry Booth, who served the town in many guises, including those of alderman and provisional town clerk - the latter at the time the Charter of Incorporation was granted.

Elizabeth Kenyon served as mayor following the death of her husband, George, in 1917; while Joseph Cooke was a councillor from the first elections until his death in 1945. He also served as chairman of Cheshire County Council.
