Speaking to your local Councillor

Your local councillor is there to help you with any problem you may have about the area where you live and the services you receive.

Councillors hold 'surgeries' where you can meet up on a one to one basis to have your say and receive support.

There are also District Assemblies you could attend to have your say. This is where a panel of speakers address matters raised by the public concerning:

  • Community Safety
  • Environment
  • Young People's Issues
  • Local Liaison

The District Assembly meetings calendar can be found on www.tameside.gov.uk/committeemeetings

Message Boards & Chat Rooms

Here you can have your say using your computer on line. You might find an answer to a problem or maybe help someone else out. Message Boards are there to give you support. You can express your feelings and share them with other Carers who might be feeling the same way to. A typical Message Board for Carers can be found at Princess Royal Trust for Carers link to external website.

Chat Rooms are similar to message boards in that you can have your say and share experiences or find out information on caring issues. Here though, you would be chatting on line in a live situation rather than reading previous messages. The site above along with many other Carer's sites has such a chat room. Age Concern also have a chat room for the over 50's. You can find out about more by visiting their website at Age Concern link to external website.
