ChoicE (Care and Home Options Independent ChoicE) provides an information service about all aspects of care homes in Tameside and those homes with nursing in Tameside and Glossop.

We provide information on the following home support services including cleaning, shopping, escort services, laundry services, frozen meals and the community response service, plus Day Care Centres, community groups and social activities for older people in Tameside.

Information is:

  • Independent
  • Free
  • Impartial and
  • Confidential

The general public. Anyone may come to ChoicE to find out information on care homes and home support providers. You may still use our services if you are self-funding.

How do you access the information?

Opening Times:

  • Monday: 10.00am - 2.00pm
  • Tuesday: 10.00am - 2.00pm
  • Wednesday: 10.00am - 2.00pm
  • Thursday: 10.00am - 2.00pm
  • Friday: 10.00am - 2.00pm
  • Saturday: 10.00am - 2.00pm

What information do we hold?

  • Leaflets of care providers who have given information. 
  • Inspection Reports of care providers. These reports provide details of how the care providers are complying with regulatory standards and can be made available for you to look at. Inspection reports are also available on the Care Quality Commission Link to External Website site.
  • List of Care Homes in Tameside .
  • List of Care Homes with nursing (may also have residential places) in Tameside and Glossop.
  • Leaflets of all the Home Support Providers listed by Tameside Adult Services.

The Information Service cannot...

  • Direct your choice or otherwise interfere in your choice of Care Home or Home Support provider.
  • Enter into discussions about individual Care Homes or Home Support provider.
  • Accompany individuals to view Care Homes.
  • Phone up Care Homes to make appointments for individuals to view or contact Home Support providers on behalf of you or the person you care for.
  • Give financial advice about entering a Care Home.
