Citizen's Panel
Citizens' Panel
The Tameside Citizens' Panel was set up in 1998 to give residents of the Borough the chance to have a say in how local services are run. The Panel is made up of around 2,000 Tameside residents who receive three postal questionnaires each year asking about their views on services and priorities in Tameside. In addition to completing paper questionnaires, panel members are sometimes invited to take part in discussion groups, telephone surveys or conferences.
The Panel gives local people a chance to have their voice heard and helps the Council and its partners to take public opinion into account when delivering services. Markets, Community Safety and Library Services are just a few examples of the varied topics covered in Panel surveys. The contribution made by Panel members has been and continues to be, a great help in planning and improving our services.
Each year, we refresh one-third of the Panel to ensure as many people as possible have the chance to contribute. Recruitment questionnaires are sent out to random addresses throughout the Borough asking people if they wish to become members of the Panel. Our external consultants, NWA Research, which administer the Panel on our behalf, then update the Panel with the new members.
After each survey we produce a newsletter containing the main findings of the survey. Newsletters can be accessed via the links below. If you require any further information about the Citizens' Panel, please contact us.
