Think about it! Parking on the yellow zigzags is inconsiderate and a real danger to other road users.
The school keep clear markings allow drivers and pedestrians to see each other.
Stopping on them - even if only for a moment - is illegal.
Tameside Council will be targeting drivers that continue to abuse the school keep clear markings.
Stopping on school keep clear markings:
-
puts children’s lives in danger.
-
is illegal.
-
inconveniences other drivers.
-
may lead to a child’s death.
Now you see me....... Now you don't

Schools are suffering as a result of irresponsible drivers who choose to stop on the school keep clear markings rather than parking further away and walking the last few meters to school.
Parked vehicles severely restrict the view of passing motorists and the view of children attempting to cross the road and are a major cause of accidents.
The Tameside Road Safety Unit is working hard to put an end to this inconsiderate behaviour with our Clear2See campaign.
Education of parents and carers about the dangers of ignoring the school keep clear markings will be followed up by parking enforcement which could result in a fine. You can be fined even if only stopping briefly to set down or pick up passengers.
Could you live with the thought that you caused the death of a child?
Please help us to keep the children of Tameside safe - don’t park or stop on the yellow zigzag markings, slow down when passing schools and make a difference that is Clear2See.
