A photograph of staff in the CCTV Control RoomWith a fully digital state of the art surveillance system in place, complimented by 60 cameras operating around the Borough, Tameside's 24hour CCTV Control Room is working around the clock to ensure public safety, enhance quality of life and assisting to reduce the fear of crime. Radio Link systems in all of the towns supported by CCTV coverage has assisted operators in the tracking of known criminals, and the two way flow of information and intelligence between CCTV operators, retailers, the police, and Town Patrollers has resulted in a highly effective network of key players in the fight against crime and disorder.

The capabilities of the state of the art modern high-speed dome cameras and intelligence gathering amongst partners has led to many significant achievements. Since the extensive installation of CCTV around the borough, there has been a downward trend in the reported crime levels within town centres. It is these falls that show that the contribution of a high visibility CCTV system is a key asset in Tameside's anti crime arsenal.
