Alcohol and drugs at work
Drug, alcohol and other substance misuse is everyone's concern. It damages health, causes absenteeism and reduced productivity.
While for many people, drinking alcohol is a positive part of life and does not cause any problems, the misuse of alcohol can lead to reduced productivity, taking time off work, and accidents at work.

The Know Your Limits Campaign

Is your drinking putting your health at risk? Regularly drinking more than 3- 4 units of alcohol a day if you are a man or 2 – 3 units a day if you are a woman increases the risk of long-term health harm such as a stroke, heart disease, mouth cancer, liver cancer and breast cancer
The Drug and Alcohol Action Team
The Drug Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) is part of the Tameside Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership. The DAAT is charged with the responsibility for delivering the National Drug Strategy at local level, ensuring a multi-agency approach to drugs and alcohol work in Tameside.
The main aims of the national and local 2008 drug strategy are:
- Protecting communities through robust enforcement to tackle drug supply, drug-related crime and anti-social behaviour
- Preventing harm to children, young people, and families affected by drug misuse
- Delivering new approaches to drug treatment and social re-integration
- Public information campaigns, communications and community engagement.
The Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnership are responsible for the development of a local Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy 989.19 KB 
. Tameside launched its first multiagency alcohol strategy in November 2003, before the development of the National Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy in March 2004. The second multiagency alcohol strategy was developed in consultation with statutory agencies, partnerships and stakeholders in Tameside.
The four themes of the strategy are:

- Children and Young People
- Healthier Communities and Older People
- Economic Development
