Painting Scheme
The Painting Scheme
Details of the scheme are as follows:
| Area to be painted | Colour | Comments on the Scheme |
|---|---|---|
| Gutters | Black Gloss | Using a dark colour will allow the gutter to blend with the roof. |
| Barge boards | Black Gloss | There are not very many of these in older property of the Conservation Area. Again a dark colour will blend in with roof and help to camouflage the barge boards. |
| Fascias | Black or white gloss | Black would probably be better on older buildings if fascias are present. The owners of more modern buildings might prefer white. |

Rainwater pipes etc

Mistletoe Gloss BS10B21 Black Gloss Black Gloss Gloss to match wall colour |
The purpose of these suggestions is to choose the colour which will best camouflage the pipes against the walls. |
| Painted Walls | White Masonry Paint or Stronghold Cumberland Stone Masonry Paint or Stronghold White Gloss | It has been suggested that walls should not be painted. However, where paint or render already exists, Cumberland Stone would blend with the nearby stone or, if white was chosen it would provide an attractive background foil to the stone. |
| Window Frames | White Gloss | White is already far the most popular colour for window frames. If a slightly more muted effect was required, particularly on stone buildings, Mistletoe Gloss could be another alternative. |
|
Window and Door Sills, Lintels and Surrounds, where painted
|
Black Gloss Mistletoe Gloss |
Again it is not suggested that these features should be painted if painting has not already been done. Where such painting already exists, the colours selected would provide an effective contrast to the walls yet blend in with the stonework as a whole. |
| Door Casings and Fanlights | White or Mistletoe Gloss | Again it is not suggested that these features should be painted if painting has not already been done. Where such painting already exists, the colours selected would provide an effective contrast to the walls yet blend in with the stonework as a whole. |
| Hardwood Doors Painted Doors |
Extra Pale Varnish
|
These colours allow a wide range of choice and hopefully would satisfy most tastes. None, however, would clash with its neighbour, whichever that was, so that there would be an overall impression of harmony throughout the village. The fairly dark, solid shades would be more in keeping with the age and character of the village colours than brighter, more 'modern' colours. |
| Door furniture, if featured. | Black Gloss | |
| Painted doors to attached garages | Finish in Gloss to match the colour chosen for house doors. | |
| Other Garage Doors | Black Gloss White Gloss Laurel Gloss Cosmos Gloss |
These would be suitable for garage blocks on Back Lane. |
|
Gates and Fences
|
Black or Mistletoe Gloss White Gloss or timberguard for a more natural effect. Black or White Gloss Black Gloss |
