Research Governance Framework (RGF)
What is the RGF?
The Department of Health have issued a new framework for managing research within health and social care. This involves all research involving service users / carers or staff and includes care that is contracted to other agencies as well as provided directly by a local council.
The definition of research is very wide and in many cases includes activity described as 'consultation'.
What do you need to do?
If you are involved in any research at the moment or planning any for the future you need to consider whether the research falls within the RGF. If so, you will need to read the application pack and complete a project proposal form and this will need to be approved before the research can proceed.
