Question Time

You have a chance to ask about local service at every meeting during Question Time, which forms part of the meeting. People wanting to ask questions are asked to fill in the question sheet before the meeting starts. You can get the sheet before the day from libraries, customer service centres, pick one up at the meeting before it starts or use the online form.

Please hand your sheet to Karen Shann at the meeting. Please note that questions sent via the online form must arrive before noon on the day of the meeting.

Dukinfield District Assembly was formed in May 1998 and is one of eight area based panels established by Tameside Council.

The Assembly is viewed by many as the focal point for questions about public services and issues affecting the local area.

The Assembly is responsible for the upkeep of local parks, open spaces and roads. We work closely with the patrollers and police to improve safety and with youth workers to provide useful activities for young people.  District Assemblies are also responsible for co-ordinating Tameside in Bloom.

The Assembly, through its elected members, officers and many partners, works with a wide range of organisations and community groups to help develop and improve local services and, where possible, facilitate local solutions to local problems.

Please remember that this is your District Assembly. We want you to come along to the meetings and tell us your views. We can't improve things without your help.

Our District Assembly meets every few weeks. And, every day, teams of Assembly staff are out and about making the streets cleaner and safer and working with others to provide more services and activities in our town.

So we hope you'll come along and get involved.

Achievements This Year

  • Dukinfield Park – The renovation of Dukinfield Park took a big step forward with the completion of restoration of the Park’s historic Victorian-era staircase.

The steps are the first and centre piece move in a range of planned repairs and additions to the park that includes improvements to paths, drainage and sporting facilities.
  • Brass Band Concerts - Again Dukinfield Park hosted a series of popular brass band concerts throughout the summer.

  • Street Cleansing - The Council's street cleansing performance continued to improve which has placed the Council amongst the best performing Council's in the country for street cleansing.

  • Environmental Improvements - Lots of environmental improvements to improve the street scene have been carried out by the District Assembly, which includes street signing replacement and the development of sustainable planting schemes which remain green all year round and have been much admired.

  • Britain In Bloom - The floral displays within the town have contributed towards the Council's success in winning the North West In Bloom Competition in 2009 (for the fifth year in succession) and being nominated to represent the North West region in this year's national Britain in Bloom competition.

  •  Green Flag Awards. – Tame Valley Community Green at Tower Street won a national Green Pennant Award for managing a high quality space.
