The following roadworks are underway/programmed to begin shortly within the borough. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience these works may cause you.

There are currently a series of retaining wall repairs being carried out across Tameside, these may cause minor delays to roads affected. For more information see the Retaining Wall Repair Updates Page.

Our latest information is:

Ashton

• Ashton Northern Bypass 
  • 6 February – 10 February 2012
    Surfacing of Penny Meadow junction with the Bypass, this junction will be closed, access will be via the Bypass
  • 6 February - 8 February
    Turner Lane will be closed whilst works are undertaken at the junction of Wellington Road.
  • 13 February – 17 February 2012 - (evening & night)
    Surfacing of Penny Meadow junction with the Bypass, this junction will be closed, access will be via the Bypass
    
• Oldham Road lane closures on Oldham Road near Aldi whilst tracks are laid into the Metrolink stop from mid January 2012
• Oldham Road/Wellington Clough footway closure to facilitate building works
• Mossley Road there will be traffic signals at the new Tesco Express site 9 to 11 February whilst a water connection is undertaken
• Works are being undertaken on Stannybrook Road in Failsworth and Newmarket Road will be being used as a diversion

Audenshaw

• Major road works for the Metrolink along Manchester Road and Droylsden Road
• There will be temporary signals on Droylsden Road near the BP Garage and at Kershaw Lane from 26 January to early March 2012 
• Kershaw Lane (North side) due to close from 3 January 2012 for 16 weeks
• Kershaw Lane (South side) due to close from 3 January 2012 for 16 weeks
• There will be temporary signals on Droylsden Road near Kershaw Lane from 3 January 2012 for 16 weeks 
• There will be no waiting at any time orders in place from Williamson Lane to Aldwinians Rugby Club entrance (both sides) and from Kershaw Lane to Lumb Lane (both sides)

Broadbottom

• N/A

Denton

• Manchester Road South lane closures will be in place from the 23 January 2012 for 15 week days whilst the safety barriers are replaced
• Ashton Road junction with Amelia Street/Annan Street – gas works are due to commence January 2012. Annan Street will be one way out and Walker Lane will be left turn only (19 January 2012 for 3 weeks)
• There will be temporary signals in place for the ring main cleaning works from 16 January to 30 March 2012 at Two Trees Lane and Stockport Road
• There will be temporary signals on Ashton Road (outside 150) from 30 January to 23 March 2012 for the ring main cleaning works
• There will be a temporary traffic set up at Stockport Road Inman Street for the ring main cleaning works, it is not anticipated traffic signals will be in use. 23 January for 6 weeks
• Windmill Lane – two way traffic signals are in use under the railway bridge whilst and emergency gas leak is repaired works are expected to be complete Sunday 12 February 2012
• Sandbrook Way/St Annes Road – Two way traffic signals are in place whist gas main renewal works are undertaken from 31 January to 6 February 2012

Droylsden

• Cemetery Road will be closed from late January 2012 for 3 weeks whilst islands are constructed
• Manchester Road near Sunnybank Road two way traffic signals will be in use from 13th February for 3 weeks whilst central islands are constructed.
• The overhead span wires will be implemented between Droylsden Library and Williamson Lane between 21 January and 28 January
  

Dukinfield

• Works ongoing in residential areas for gas main renewal works
• Park Road two way signals will be in place whilst a water connection is undertaken from 16 January to 28 January 2012
• Meadow Lane will be closed for carriageway resurfacing works from 21 February 2012 for 5 days
• Dewsnap Lane will be closed for carriageway resurfacing works from 27 February 2012 for 2 weeks

Hyde

• Works ongoing in residential areas for gas main renewal works
• Mottram Old Road – 2 way traffic signals will be in place from 20 January for 7 weeks (100 metres max) whilst gas mains are renewed
• Ashton Road near Lodge Lane two way traffic signals will be in use between 20 February and 26 February
• Lodge Lane will be closed at its junction with Ashton Road whilst Gas main renewal works are undertaken from 11 February to 19 February
• Victoria Street/Cartwright Street junction will be closed from 20 February for 5 days whilst carriageway resurfacing works are undertaken
• Stockport Road junction of Dowson Road three way traffic signals will be in place whilst gas works are undertaken from 11 February for 1 week
• Ashton Road (outside Cheshire Cheese) building to be demolished, traffic details to be confirmed

Mossley 

• Stockport Road/Quick Road – Retaining wall works temporary signals will be in place from 9 January 2012 for 4 weeks whilst retaining wall work are complete
• Public Footpath No. 64 between Manchester Road and Calf Lane from 31 May 2011 for 12 months whist the unsafe wall is repaired
• Manchester Road retaining wall works being undertaken. Traffic signals will need to be in use from late January to 9 March 2012 for retaining wall works
• Huddersfield Road - Temporary traffic signals will be in use to facilitate retaining wall works near Mossley Hollins School from 11 January to 3 April 2012 
• Public Footpath No. 50 will be closed at its junction with Huddersfield Road due to retaining wall works – diversions will be in place
• Micklehurst Road will be closed from Mansfield Road to Station Road whilst carriageway resurfacing works are undertaken from 13 February 2012 for 12 working days
• Stamford Street / Manchester Road works will be undertaken at this junction to facilitate the commissioning of the new signal junction from 8 February to 23 February.
• Stamford Street will be closed off peak between Broadcarr Lane to Arundel Street whilst carriageway resurfacing works are undertaken from 27 February for 2 weeks.
  

Mottram

• Stockport Road, Hattersley – lane closures/reduced speed limit to facilitate construction works for the new Tesco development
• Mottram Moor – bus stop renewal works, January 2012 – night works only

Stalybridge

• Corporation Street – due to be closed from 24 January 2012 for 6 months
• Stamford Street/Portland Place – potential lane closures to facilitate works
• Stamford Street – carriageway resurfacing from Wakefield Road to Market Street, Summer holidays 2012
• Rassbottom Street two way signals will be in use for railway bridge inspection works from 29 January to 7 February 2012 from 10pm – 6am
