What is the Sitting and Support Service?
The Service can be used to help carers to take a break. Tameside Adult Services arranges for a trained care worker to stay with the person you care for while you take some time off.
We can provide a care worker during the day, evening, or in some cases over night.
Who can use the Service?
The person you are looking after must be aged 18 or over. They must need a high level of help with their own care. If the person is aged under 18, there are separate services available to help you have a break. For more information Send a Message to Children's Customer Services
How can I get this Service?
You can get this Service either:
- When the person you are looking after is assessed by Adult Services as needing the service, or
- When, as a carer, you have an assessment in your own right which may identify that you need this Service.
