This has been my second year as in Independent Councillor elected to serve a four year term on Tameside MBC. I hold a Health and Hygiene Certificate and CRB checked.
Participation at Council Meetings and Panels
I have attended all Full Council meetings and currently serve on the Personal and Health Services Scrutiny Panel, Licensing Panel and Tameside Theatre Group Panel.
Participation at District Assemblies
I am a member of the Mossley and Stalybridge Northeast District Assembly and have attended all meetings. I am also involved in services to young people to be responsible for consultation and implementation of provision of facilities for services for young people.
Participation on Outside Bodies and Partnerships
All Saints Church PCC, Churches Together, Whit Friday and Mossley Twinning Committees, Mossley Town Council Steering Committee, M.D. Mossley Singers, Secretary of the Women’s Royal British Legion, member of The Time of Your Life club, and Vice President of Mossley Amateur Operatic Society. I also entertain at social events and concerts and organise the Christmas charity concert.
Constituency Work
My constituents work is in person, by telephone, letters, e-mails and surgery visits. I try to deal with matters promptly, keeping my constituents informed of any progress and strive for good outcomes. I work with the Mossley Partnership Group involving officials, New Charter, Mossley residents, also Police and Communities Together (PACT), which meet monthly with the Police, Police Community Support Officers, Patrollers, Social Workers and New Charter officials, all being quite positive in reducing anti-social behaviour in the town. My colleagues and I covered 80 advice surgeries sessions this year. Along with them I distributed my allocated Ward funds to Mossley organisations. I hold my surgeries at All Saints Institute and the George Lawton Hall.
Training and Development
I have attended all special training sessions for 2007/2008 and attended the three day Building Schools for the Future presentations, the successful bidder being Inspired Spaces who will be building the new Mossley Hollins School to be completed by 2010.
Achievements during the Year
My personal achievement is being able to be involved in the scrutiny of the problems with Tameside Hospital which involved interviews with the Chief Executive, officers and other health officials.
I have enjoyed being on the Mossley District Assembly and services to young people panel, to see the achievements of the majority of our youth, visiting the Mossley Basketball team and also Egmont Street playing fields for Mossley Mini Olympics. I also watched and supported the junior teams playing tournaments.
