Participation at District Assemblies

Attended four District Assembly meetings. Carried out a complete road survey throughout Werneth Ward with regards to the condition of the highways and presented this to the District Assembly for consideration along with the existing road re-surfacing programme.

Highlighted the problems within the area regarding the fly-tipping of rubbish, household equipment and garden waste.

Expressed my concern with the withdrawal of the last youth club at St. George’s within Werneth Ward and little assurance that this would improve.

Supported residents with regard to their concerns regarding youth annoyance, road safety issues, litter problems and many more.

  • Member of Werneth Low Country Park Joint Management Committee
  • Member of North Manchester Valuation Panel
  • Member of PACT to monitor and address local problems with the Police, community bodies and attended ten meetings

Constituency Work

Addressed a number of local planning issues that were of concern to the residents, speaking and attending meetings on their behalf, mainly successfully.

Many local issues attended to i.e. potholes, trees, rubbish, youth annoyance etc.

I still actively support the local Scout movement in the Hyde area, the 3rd Gee Cross and 4th St. George’s are both in urgent need of financial help, hence our Ward funds. They are a great help towards a strong community base.

Support was also given to support Junior Bowling in the area.

The Well Dressing in the village of Gee Cross is also a community based activity which I support through the Women’s Institute.

Again from our Ward funds financial help was provided for the Willow Wood Festival held each year in Gee Cross. This good cause provides funds for local charities to promote a good community.

Members’ Advice Surgeries

I attended seven surgeries throughout the year dealing with residents complaints i.e. the poor condition of our roads, litter, youth annoyance and New Charter Housing Trust.

Attended all the various training seminars available including Waste and Re-cycling, Liquor Licensing (gambling), Local Government Bill and Corporate Governance.
