Participation at District Assemblies

Attended 6 District Assembly meetings, again lobbying for Polebank Park to be completed and following up on road conditions on Grosvenor Road/Foxholes to ensure the road surface was completed satisfactorily for the residents. I have supported the Police in setting up a Youth Club at Holy Trinity Church and have supported the clean up approach for fly tipping, although this is still an ongoing problem. I am still canvassing support for a Youth Club in our Ward and I have continued to support residents with their concerns regarding youths causing annoyance, traffic problems and road safety issues around the Tesco Store on Stockport Road in Gee Cross, many planning issues, parking etc.

Participation on Outside Bodies and Partnerships

  • Member, Manchester Valuation Panel
  • Member, PACT (to monitor and address local problems with the Police, community bodies and attended 9 meetings).

Constituency Work

I have addressed a number of local planning issues on behalf of residents that were of concern to them, attending meetings and speaking on their behalf.

I have supported the local Bangladesh community, attending meetings and special events, cleaning the Millennium Park and helping to replace the large play area.

I have actively supported local groups in the ward e.g. the Scout movement in helping to fund items in the new community building, the Women’s Institute, Junior Bowling Club, the Annual Well Dressing in Gee Cross Village, the local school’s football tournament and have continued to support the Willow Wood Festival Weekend not only through ward funds but with direct involvement also, this good cause not only promotes our good community but generates funds for local charities.

Members Advice Surgeries

I have attended 7 surgeries throughout the year dealing with residents complaints regarding many issues e.g. state of the roads, Tesco store parking, youth annoyance, school admissions, Planning etc.

Training and Development

I have attended five training seminars available including Tameside Works First etc.
