Annual Report of Activities 2007/08
Participation at Council Meetings and Panels
- Member of Personal and Health Services Scrutiny Panel
- Member of Services for Children and Young People Scrutiny Panel
- Attended all Full Council meetings except one due to annual leave
Participation at District Assemblies
- Attended every DA meeting, DA Chairs meetings, and meetings with the Youth Liaison Officer.
- Attended the Cyclone Appeal in Hyde, went out with the Patrollers to see what is happening in Newton at night, and attended the opening of Bennett Street Youth Centre.

Participation on School Governing Bodies
School Governor at Oakfield Primary School
Constituency Work
Assisted with all elections within the Ward. Helped families with re-housing via New Charter Housing Trust, dealt with street lighting issues, eradication of rodents from Danby Road, arranging for potholes to be repaired. Started a coffee morning at Bradley Green Centre and in the process of starting a Questions and Answers meeting at Bennett Street. Attended meetings regarding the future of Findels, attended the Splendid Weekend, Freedom Parade, and CLP and LGC meetings.
Members’ Advice Surgeries
Attended all advice surgeries at Sure Start, Acresfield Shop and then Bradley Green Centre, including Ward meetings.
Training and Development
- Induction training
- Parks, Open Spaces and Green Flags
- IT training – using Powerpoint, using Microsoft Word, using a Laptop and File Management, Members Portal, Internet and e-mail.
- Scrutiny training and briefing and development for DA Chairs
Achievements during the Year
Helped to get the adult learners into Bayley Hall, Hyde Park, and started a coffee morning at Bradley Green Centre. Went to the opening of the newly refurbished Hyde Library.
