Annual Report of Activities 2010/11
I have been the Executive Member for Neighbourhoods since May 2010.
I am responsible for leading and monitoring the district assembly function including:
- DA Meetings and other functions
- Street Cleanliness and Streetforce Service
- Management of Parks and Open Spaces
- You Choose Events
I am also responsible for the Council’s Community Safety functions including:
- Patrollers Service
- CCTV
- Reducing Re-offending Strategy
This year has been an incredibly difficult one, having to deal with unprecedented cuts. Like all services across the Council, my services have lost valuable members of staff.
I would like to thank all members of staff for their professionalism over the years and wish all the staff who left the Council all the best for the future.

I regularly attend:
- Full Council Meetings
- Executive Cabinet
- Executive Board Meetings
District Assemblies
I am responsible for the running of eight DAs and have regular meetings with all DA Chairs. I attend meetings of the Stalybridge DA and the Mossley and North East Stalybridge DA.
Participation on Outside Bodies
I attend CDRP Meetings and Reducing Re-Offending Meetings.
Constituency Work
I am a member of Stalybridge Labour Party, Stalybridge & Hyde CLP and Tameside LGC.
Surgeries
I hold surgeries with my Ward Colleague, Councillor George Roberts at Stalybridge Labour Club, Stalybridge Library, Stamford Drive Scout Hut and Buckton Vale Institute.
Achievements During the Year
- Stamford Park regeneration work began (£5 million investment)
- National Britain in Bloom Winners
- Renovation of Carrbrook Duck Island
- Extra monies for Ridge Hill School
- Active Thursdays for Ridge Hill
- Support for Staley Cricket Club
- Re-offending down in Tameside
