Councillor Parker-Perry's Annual Report
Councillor Sean Parker-Perry
Ward: Longdendale
Annual Report of Activities 2010/11
Participation at Council Meetings and Panels
I have attended all full Council meetings during the year and actively participate in Council life on a daily basis. As a member of the Council's Speakers Panel (Planning), I attend all meetings and keep up to date with the changes that happen in the planning scene on a weekly basis.
Participation at District Assemblies
I am Chair of the Longdendale and Hattersley District Assembly and hold weekly meetings with my Town Manager. I do not simply chair the DA meeting, I participate in the grass roots day-to-day activities of the Assembly and frequently work with the front-line staff.
Participation on Outside Bodies and Partnerships
I am a member of Werneth Low Joint Management Committee. This is something that I am passionate about as I join the many thousands that visit the park every month to enjoy the surroundings and responsibly walk my dog.
Participation on School Governing Bodies
I am Chair of Governors at Pinfold Primary School and Vice Chair of Governors at Arundale. This is not a position to shy away from. I actively support the head teacher and management team at the school as I simply believe that the primary schools in Hattersley are the benchmark for Tameside.
Constituency Work
I have dealt promptly with many concerns from constituents and have a commitment to contact constituents within 24 hours or write to them within 7 days.
Members' Advice Surgeries
I hold regular surgeries within the Longdendale Ward although I can be contacted by telephone and e-mail.
My mobile telephone number is freely available and I arrange regular home calls. I can be contacted on 07985 443830.
Training and Development
I have attended several training sessions this year.
Achievements during the Year
The street scene in Longdendale continues to improve year on year. I have overseen redevelopment of several small parks in the district and started a programme of replacing street furniture with a higher specification. In these tough economic times the focus of the District Assembly is to continue to deliver excellent services and to support the volunteer groups that are the fabric of the Longdendale and Hattersley Community.
In 2011/12 I will continue to fight for improved recycling facilities in the Longdendale and Hattersley community.
