Ward: Mossley
Annual Report of Activities 2007/08
I stood for re-election in May 2007 and was successful in being elected to serve the people of Mossley as an Independent Councillor until 2011.
Participation
- I have attended all Council meetings.
- I sit on the Technical, Economic and Environmental Services Scrutiny Panel, Resources and Sustainable Communities Scrutiny Panel and the Member Development Forum, and have attended most meetings.
District Assemblies
I am a member of Mossley and Stalybridge North East District Assembly and have attended most meetings.
Outside Bodies
- I am a member of the local PACT team liaising with different sectors to try and reduce local crime and disorder.
- I am a member of Mossley Parish Council re-elected in May 2007.
- I serve as a Magistrate on the Tameside Bench.
- I am Secretary of the Mossley Traditional Whit Friday Committee.
Constituency Work
My constituency work is done by telephone, e-mail or in person. I hold four advice surgeries per month at the George Lawton Hall and All Saints Institute. I keep residents updated regarding the progress or conclusions to their concerns.
My Ward monies have been divided between voluntary groups in Mossley.
Training & Development
I have attended all member training and development courses and I serve on the Member Development Forum.
Achievements
In the main the residents’ problems I have been involved with have been resolved, however, antisocial behaviour, parking issues and traffic congestion still are the main concerns in our town.
Summary
This year has again been a learning curve and I am gaining knowledge which will help me become a more effective Councillor for my Ward.
