Participation at Council Meetings and Panels

I have attended all Full Council meetings and any special meetings when called.
This year I have served as a member of the Enforcement Panel and the Personal and Health Services Scrutiny Panel.

Participation at District Assemblies

I have served as Chair of Ashton District Assembly for a third year. I have attended all of the meetings held this municipal year and I have also attended any special meetings called regarding the budget. I continue to hold regular meetings with Advisory Group members and Chair’s Briefings with the Town Manager.

Participation on Outside Bodies and Partnerships

I represent the Authority on the Airport Consultative Committee as a substitute for Councillor Alan Whitehead, Cabinet Deputy (Technical Services). I am also a member of the Smallshaw/Hurst Partnership and I attended meetings of PACT (Cedar Park).

Participation on School Governing Bodies

I am Chair of Governors at Hartshead Sports College. I have attended sub-group meetings, interviews with parents, Ofsted Inspectors, staff, prize giving ceremonies and training sessions as necessary.

Constituency Work

I have attended various public and residents and tenants meetings. I have spoken on behalf of my constituents at Speakers Panel and to outside bodies, expressing their views and concerns. I have made many site visits and environmental improvements in the Ward and we are continuing to improve on these all the time. Various alley-gating schemes have now been completed and I am currently involved in the introduction of “residents only” parking schemes.

Members’ Advice Surgeries

I have attended all Ward surgeries, which have been well attended by constituents, who have raised not only their own personal problems, but problems generally within the Ward. This has given us the opportunity to put most of these issues right.

Training and Development

I have attended several training sessions this year offered to Members through the Member Development Programme, including Parks, Open Spaces and Green Flag seminars.
