Education: Waterloo County Primary School, Ashton-under-Lyne Grammar School, BA (Library Information Studies) Manchester. (PGCE)
As a professionally qualified Librarian and Teacher I have had a career in public libraries and schools.
Worked voluntary for over 34 years in the health service, both locally and nationally chairing numerous health committees and establishing committees for diabetes and maternity services in Tameside and Glossop.
A non-executive Director for 5 years for Tameside and Glossop Primary Care Trust and Community Health Council, member for 8 years.
Presently a member of Tameside and Glossop PCT Medicines Management Committee and Diabetes Advisory Group including patient lead on diabetes. Member of Tameside and Glossop  NHS "Long Term Conditions Board". Tameside Links Board Member soon to become HEALTHWATCH and Member of LINKs Hospital Working Group, Tameside Hospital "Improving the Patient Environment Working Group" (IPEG), Tameside and Glossop Hospital Foundation Trust Council of Members, Chair of Diabetes Concern Greater Manchester and Secretary of the Tameside and Glossop Group. Also a life member of Albion United Reformed Church.

Interests: conservation, heritage,music, reading and travel
