Habitat Creation
Bright Shop Habitat Creation Area
As part of our commitment to encouraging biodiversity and sustainability, Tameside's Countryside Service has developed a new resource, The Habitat Creation Area.
This area, once the site of the Bright Shop at Park Bridge, has been created as a demonstration site, showing ideas for features that can be incorporated into school grounds or outdoor classrooms.
These features are especially useful for schools working towards Eco-Awards, as they encourage wildlife and provide a valuable educational resource for school.
Features include:
- Dry stone walling
- Living willow structures
- Wildflower meadow
- Sensory area
- Herb garden
- Native tree stand
- Composting and recycling
- Wildlife Pond
- Wood piles
- Native hedgerow
Resource Pack
Our accompanying resource pack includes fact sheets on how, when and where to create all of these features, along with practical advice, maintenance schedules, contractor details, suppliers and other contacts. Get this pack free with the Education Pack.
For a copy of the Resource Pack, and to arrange a demonstration session for your staff, either at our 'open week' or any other time, please contact us.
