Countryside Ranger Service
Tameside's Countryside Ranger Service is responsible for the management of the Borough's countryside and has long been recognised through it's work in wildlife conservation and countryside interpretation, helping the local community and visitors alike to appreciate, enjoy and care for the natural environment.
The Countryside Service comprises of rangers, administrative support and an estate team. Additionally approximately 60 voluntary rangers provide invaluable support and assistance to the Service.
Working closely with the local community, landowners and various other organisations, the Countryside Service also provides information to visitors, manages three visitor centres, runs an extensive and varied countryside events programme, undertake conservation and access improvements, and works closely with school and community groups.
