Minutes - 2nd April 2007 (Draft)
1. Attendance
Introduction and apologies :
Cllr Doubleday announced the start of the meeting of the Tameside Cycling Forum.

2. Approval of Minutes
DC - Drew attention to an omission in the last minutes.
Cllr. - Minutes adopted by PB as true record of meeting of the 22nd of January 2007.
3. Matters Arising
Dchad - Congratulated the Council for the new greenway opened (NCN66) in Ashton.
Cllr - Informed the Forum that a new officer has been appointed as the Principal Engineer for Transportation, who has experience of managing Forums. He will be attending the next Forum meeting.
4. Progress Reports
CE - Acresbrook/Mottram Road
- Cycle Lane and sign installed. Have forwarded Department for Transport guidelines for dealing with road narrowings to interested members of the Forum.
- DC wanted to know if the COPECAT provisions had been used.
Route Development NCN66 and RCN85
- Phase 1 completed, railings and sub base installed at Alt Hill
- Proposals for RCN85 to be presented at next meeting.
Oxford Park (Stockport Road)
- Provision has been made in this years funding to extend the cycle lanes.
Ashton to Stalybridge Cycle Route
- I am entering preliminary discussions with ASDA, estimated cost 80K
- DC suggested the shelving of this plan, because of its cost implications.
Stockport Road (NCN 62)
- Cycle Lanes put in, but have been asked to revert to the old layout at Wakeling?
- Cllr Doubleday not in support of the removal.
- Stockport Rd/Two Trees Lane
Cycle Maps for Tameside
- More maps ordered, high demand (800 copies left).
Connect 2 Lottery Project
- Bid has gone in, forwarded costing for Alt Hill Lane bridge (137K) to SUSTRANS, short-listing by SUSTRANS late April and Television vote in Dec/Jan 07.
TPT - Hurst Clough, Kerry Foods and Greatwood
- Hurst Clough has been reconstructed. Nuisance of motorcyclist. To be discussed with Countryside Officer and the Local Police.
Dowson Primary School
- Dowson Primary School will be getting some funding from SUSTRANS to provide more cycle facilities in the school.
5. Any Other Business
CEll - Please provide maps showing proposals at subsequent Forum meetings.
PB - Can the short stretch of One-way traffic system from the junction of Higher Henry Street with Dowson Road be amended to accommodate cyclists?
DC - Lack of communication for SUSTRANS last visit. The Local Community should be made aware of the Connect2 bid to enable them promote Tameside's bid.
Dchad - Mossley Cycle Racing Team has achieved “Go Ride” accreditation and would like a formal presentation. So can this be arranged?
JH - Dowson Primary School will be having a Dr. Bike morning on the 9 th of May. Everyone is welcome.
Dowson Primary has employed the services of a Bike It officer on a few occasions and is looking for a more Sustainable arrangement to help make Cycling Mainstream.
CE - Any Forum Member requiring a car park pass to inform the Cycle Officer 1 week in advance.
