- Acresbrook/Mottram - Report sent to planning, still waiting for a response. DC not happy with the long delay. This issue has been around now for 3 years.
- Route Development NCN 66 and RCN 85 - Work has commenced on the NCN66, SUSTRANS board visited Tameside on the 8 th of September and they did put a proposal to the Council to open up "Greenways" within the Authority.
Also development of the Regional Route (RCN 85) and linking the south of Ashton to the north is currently being explored.
- Oxford Park (Stockport Road) - A section has been completed, awaiting more funds to extend the cycle lanes.
- Ashton to Stalybridge cycle route - Report has been written, scheme submitted to Traffic Management for a Stage 1 Safety Audit, have made complaints to Management about the delay. DC not happy with the delay wants to know if money has been budgeted for the scheme. Ceb informed the forum about the availability of funds but that the option of providing a crossing at the existing Traffic Lights was not viable, based on report from consultant. Will forward information to interested parties. DC will want all schemes discussed to be properly listed and "actions" taken to be shown.
- Stockport Road (A6017) - Work orders to provide cycle lanes issued. PJ made a case for the provision of a Toucan crossing at Hulme Lane.
- Stockport Road/Two Trees Lane - No work done still waiting for feedback from GMUTC.
- Cycle Maps - New paper Cycle Maps now available for Tameside.
- PB drew attention to items missing from "minutes" namely; Mossley cycle circuit, problem for cyclists turning right into Wakefield Road.
- Ian Saxon to be contacted for information, regarding proposed bike circuit in Mossley.
- Phil Calverley to respond to Cllrs query on lack of action on cycle related matters.
5. Any Other Business
DC stressed the need to focus on a few issues, instead of spending time and effort on a lot of things and not achieving much.
PJ provided a list of proposals on cycle routes in Tameside. Cycle officer to act on them.
Ceb will send information to members regarding the proposed bid for lottery funds for the provision of a new cycle bridge over the Medlock at Park Bridge. Oldham MBC is leading on this scheme.
The Cycle officer will be attending the upcoming seminar in Manchester "making cycling mainstream". Efforts will be made to co-opt other staff (stake holders) to achieve desired goal of promoting and implementing cycle schemes.
6. Date of next meeting
Cllr. - 6.00pm Committee Room 4, Council Office in Ashton on the 22nd January 2007
