Tameside Cycle Forum - Terms of Reference
Aim
- To advocate and promote cycle use in Tameside for all forms of cycling activities.
Membership
To be an effective forum, membership should include a wide spectrum of users and capabilities to include:
- All age groups;
- The novice rider;
- The infrequent leisure rider;
- The commuter cyclist;
- The experienced cyclist;
- Those who are apprehensive or new to cycling;
- Those seeking help or guidance in getting started; and
- Those promoting and encouraging cycling including elected members and officers from Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council and other partners and organisations.
How we achieve our objectives
- To contribute and comment on the development of the Council's policies, strategies and plans as they relate to publicity and promotion for cycling.
- To be a consultative body on a range of cycle related proposals, contributing to the development and awareness of cycle use.
- To promote social inclusion through helping people from disadvantaged groups or other areas to access jobs and essential services.
Format, Frequency and Location Of Meetings
- Where practicable the Cycle Forum will meet quarterly on the first Monday of every third month between 6.00pm and 7.30pm
- Meetings will generally be held at the Council Offices, Wellington Road, Ashton-under-Lyne
Chair
- The Tameside Lead Member for Cycling or representative will chair the meeting.
Secretary
- Agenda and Minutes prepared by Tameside Borough Council
Reporting
- Minutes of meetings and action points to be posted on the council website.
