Minutes of ACMT Ashton meeting 3 July 2008

Area Coordination Management Meeting

Item 1: Welcome

Jane-Ann welcomed all to the meeting.
Introductions were made

Alison Goodge attended the meeting as a replacement to Jackie Leonard. Alison or her counterpart Jeanette, the two Team Leaders, will attend future meetings on a rotational basis.

Item 3: Notes of last meeting and matter arising

The minutes from 20th March 2008 were accepted as a true and accurate record, with the following matters arising.

Item 8 - Common Processes and FAQ’s - Jane-Ann mentioned that she had had difficulties accessing the FAQ’s.

David Hoyle gave details of a problem with the system at the moment due to “Advertising Hackers” and suggested that this may be causing the access problem. This is being remedied at present.

Item 4: Common Processes

Tracy discussed the JASPER stats that had been sent round for information. She reminded all present to continue to send notification of any CAFs undertaken in their teams to Lindsay for collation.

David Hoyle gave a brief outline of his role including his wider role in information sharing, working closely with the Area Co-ordinators, JASPER and the move to ContactPoint. David then proceeded to discuss the attached papers and their background.

David stressed the importance of the Statement of Expectations. The intention is to bring all staff on line with this way of working.

A discussion took place with regards to how other authorities work - Anne Okwei to contact Blackpool with regards to their practice within this area.

David gave details of the Action plan and how this had been designed and also gave brief details of a conference surrounding Common Processes which would look at all areas of information sharing.

David stated that there would be support for practitioners now that the role of CAF Adviser had been recruited to. Tracy announced that Jane-Ann Birkitt is to be the new CAF Adviser.

Item 5: Area Profile

Tracy discussed how the profile will be presented and stressed that the area profile should be useful to schools and managers and should assist them with targeting their service provision. The information in the Area Profile will be underpinned by data collected to report the against the National Indicators, LAA and LA targets.

The meeting were asked to look through the Area Profile introduction and contents and give feedback on areas where they felt that there are gaps or if they felt providing additional information would support their work. A discussion took place surrounding the various sources where data may be obtained and how up to date it will be. Tracy passed round ethnicity data to show an example of how the data might be processed.

Lindsay to bring updated version of Area Profile to next meeting.

Connexions Data

Annie O’Malley explained the Connexions reporting system and gave details of how advisors now to be split into the 4 geographical teams. Staff are given a workload within their area and a remit to look at services within that area. Annie gave informed the group of the Personal Social Development programme - which is especially for young people who would find it difficult to go straight into employment, education or training.

Various charts were passed round and Annie gave details of how and why this data had been collated and what the data showed with regard to differences across the wards in the borough. Tracy asked how the data is used to remedy the outcome in respect of meeting targets or for young people.

All agreed that periodic review of Connexions data and the impact of initiatives to tackle ‘unknowns’ and ‘NEETs’ would be useful.

Item 6: Any other Business

YOT Assessment - Catherine Matthews reported that this information cannot be shared at the present time.

Youth Alcohol Survey - Tracy asked if everyone was aware of this consultation. It closes on 7th July and individuals or individual services were invited to respond. A response has been submitted through a small group of members of the Young Peoples ASB (multi-agency) group.

Tracy  asked for a volunteer to be the new chair person as Jane-Ann would be leaving the group to take up her new post - Annie O’Malley agreed to take on this role.

It was noted that a replacement of Jane-Ann (Senior School Representative) was also needed on the meeting team - Any suggestions - names to Tracy please. Jane-Ann agreed to follow this up

Tracy thanked Jane-Ann for her work as Chair person on behalf of the group and presented her with some flowers
