Item 1: Welcome
Ameena welcomed everyone to the meeting and introductions were made round the table.

Item 3: Consultation – Sinead Brophy Consultants
Adrian Acres – Consultant gave an outline of the consultation process and informed the group that any comments/suggestion etc were completely confidential.
As consultation a confidential process no notes were recorded on the minutes.
Item 4: Notes of last meeting and matter arising
- Amendment needed on the apologies – Jo Brown, Connexions was omitted. Lindsay to amend.
- Item 6: Paula Henson - Teenage Pregnancies will be invited to attend next meeting.
- Family Learning bid – no feedback as yet.
- Staff Directory is almost completed and will be included on SID – Lindsay to check on progress
- Hyde Tech – Asian Extravaganza – Problems getting the event off the ground – Linda and Beryl to liaise on this project to see if it can be progressed.`
Item 5: Area Based Connexions Service
Area Based Connexions Service – Jo Brown lead of this item
- Connexions Looked at local needs
- Looked at case studies
- Looked at what is/isn’t working
- Looked at what they could do better
Tameside Connexions moved into 4 area teams
- 4 team managers
- Jo now has schools in her remit
- Focusing on NEET prevention
- Friday 13th March – Team day – agencies will give presentations to the teams in order to identify where there are gaps
- Trialling February half term holding opening Hyde office to year 11 pupils identified as potential NEET to assist with filling in application forms and producing CV’s
- HYDE PRU students and Step UP young people will be visiting Connexions for consultations.
Ideas for Hyde Tech Calendar
Beryl Oliver from Hyde Tech showed the group last years calendar and invited ideas for this years calendar.
It was decided that a smaller sub group from this meeting would get together to move this item forward.
Linda and Beryl to meet and bring ideas to the next meeting.
Item 6: Common Processes update
Common Processes Handbook
Ameena distributed copies of the Common Processes handbook.
- Quick and easy guide
- Useful telephone numbers at the back of the booklet
Contact Point Shielding Procedures
- The Shielding Policy has been through the Safeguarding Children’s Board.
- Only 2 people in Tameside will be able to raise the issuing of a shield
- Teams are currently being asked to identify children for shielding
The group looked at the JASPER stats
- The stats show that there is an increase in the willingness to share information
- Practitioners should be encouraged to log on as there could be information relevant to them.
- Jo commented that Connexions staff will be unable to use their “system” for a couple of days so managers would be encouraging their staff to be looking at JASPER.
CAF Cards
There is to be CAF Card training on 2&3 March – anyone wishing to attend should contact Jane-Ann Birkett
- meeting members felt that two days training was too long
Ameena to feed back to Jane-Ann re the training.
Item 7: CYPPSP Priorities
Ameena gave a brief outline of the priorities
- Priorities to emailed to meeting members
Item 8: AOB
Linda - Acresfield (Newton) now up and running and the Children’s Centre had been given approval.
- £25K grant for Adult Learning courses for the Newton Area
- Linda will circulate information on the relevant courses
- Consultation taking place with residents and forming a Forum group to seek funding
- EVADE Programme – 28 young people from the Newton area to go the EVADE programme for Martial Arts and Performance Centre
- Programme for 16+ males who are at home to receive £20 per month to spend on activities.
A poster was distributed giving details of an event taking place at the Aquatics Centre in conjunction with the Water Adventure Centre. This event is part of the Women’s Week activities – members of the meeting were asked to publicise this event.
