Area Coordination Management Meeting

Hyde, Hattersley and Longdendale

1. Welcome

Sue opened the meeting by welcoming everyone and giving a brief overview of the agenda. She explained that this first meeting would be informal and that she hoped it would help everyone to get to know each other (roles and responsibilities etc).

2. Apologies

Don Entwistle from the youth Service sent his apologies.

3. Update on membership of this team and interim chairing arrangements

The Health Coordinator from the Primary Care Trust has not yet been appointed. The lead Children's Centre Managers have also not been appointed therefore as an interim measure the current Surestart Managers will attend. A person has now been appointed to the Youth Offending Team. It is hoped that there will be representatives from both senior and primary schools at future group meetings.

Meetings will be arranged approx every six weeks. A chairperson will be nominated at the next meeting.

4. Terms of Reference - presentation and discussion

This document was agreed at the Children's Strategic Partnership. The group went through this together to clarify any issues.

5. Managers' update

Members of the group gave a brief introduction re their service. Please see separate notes attached.

6. CAF training and emerging issues

CAF (Common Assessment Framework) training is ongoing. Some concerns were expressed about the length of time between the initial awareness raising and some members asked whether it would take people away from their normal duties? In the long term this could help to tie things together but there is a long way to go and more data will be needed to check progress. It was agreed that CAF would be a standing item on future agenda's

7. JASPER training and emerging issues

(Joint Assessment System for Prevention and Early Referral) There were some concerns similar to those raised about the CAF training.

8. Area Coordinator - visiting teams

Area Coordinators are hoping to visit teams and dates will be arranged in the future.

9. Venues and timings of future meetings

The next meeting will be at 9.30am on 21 st February 2007 at Newton Family Support Team. Please send any items for the agenda to Sue Garnett.
