Change for Children meetings

It has been suggested from the other AC groups that two meetings in each area at different times of the day in the Autumn term may be appropriate. Sports Development & Children's Centres will be doing presentations at the meetings.

Action from the last minutes: Julie to contact Pam Chadwick re feedback from voluntary agencies.

Item 5: Integrated Services for Schools-Stamford High School

Discussion: The aim is to look at all the different services going into school and identify which services are working with each young person. Jane has identified a list of agencies (13) that go into Stamford . There are a number of agencies working with the same young person and it was felt it would be useful to map this in some kind of way.

There was also a discussion about having a common referral process which could be used pre CAF. Sue said that Area Coordinators have been looking at different referral systems with a view to progressing a common referral system.

Staff Directory

Discussion: The template from the Staff Directory has not been completed by some of the schools and services. There was a request for members of the group to remind colleagues to complete.

Children's Social Care

Issues regarding Young People aged 15: There is an issue in some areas that cases are being closed for some young people (who are not looked after) before their 16 th birthday, or referrals are not being taken. It has also been noted that Children's Social Care staff are not attending some C&F meetings in areas. Nina Chaudhry had responded to the issues and Susan read the responses. The group were asked to contact individual managers or Nina if there are any issues. Nina had requested some information about these scenarios, so that she could look into it. Susan reiterated the need for good communication and relationships.

Conclusions: Annie said that Connexions were receiving 2-3 young people per year from these circumstances. The group agreed that the pilot at Stamford may be a good way of communicating when cases were being referred on or in some cases closed

Julie informed that the draft strategy has been written and will be out for consultation soon.
