La Cavalcade
Taking part in La Cavalcade
On Friday 16th June 2006, 45 persons including pupils from St.Thomas More School and the Steel Band from Dane Bank School, in the company of their teachers and a group of residents from Denton, set off by coach to spend the weekend taking part in carnival celebrations in Denton's Twin Town of, Montigny-le-Bretonneux, near Paris. The trip was organised by Denton Town Twinning Association.

Also taking part in the carnival, as well as performing at locations around Montigny, were artists from Ireland, Romania, Germany and France.
Dane Bank Steel Band started its programme on Saturday morning by entertaining residents in one of Montigny's leafy districts close to the town centre. The weather was perfect. In the evening they performed on stage in the open air in front of a crowd of spectators in the grounds of the Ferme du Manet, one of Montigny's oldest and most spectacular buildings.
On Sunday the pupils from the two Denton schools (above right) participated in an impressive carnival procession 'la cavalcade' that toured the town. The theme this year being: The Cinema. Visitors were treated to a display of floats depicting scenes from films such as: The Guns of Navarone, Star Wars, Mutiny on the Bounty, Jurassic Park, etc, etc.
Having made many new friends, the party left Montigny on Monday morning and arrived back in Denton at 10.00pm
