Low Vision
Low Vision
Tameside is currently working with local opticians to provide a service for people who have difficulty in seeing print even with the use of glasses.
The Low Vision Service makes it easier for us to supply people with magnifiers that may help them to continue with reading print, seeing the prices in the supermarket, DIY, sewing, or even playing bingo!
You do not need to be registered to use this service but you must of had an eye test in the last 12 months.
Eye tests are free if you are registered blind or partially sighted.
We will arrange an appointment with you at Vision First Resource Centre or if necessary to visit you in your own home. If we decide that a magnifier can help, we will issue one free of charge.
Your eye specialist or optician may decide you would benefit from this service.
You can contact the Adult Assessment and Customer Care team for more information.
