Question Time

You have a chance to ask about local service at every meeting during Question Time, which forms part of the meeting. People wanting to ask questions are asked to fill in the question sheet before the meeting starts. You can get the sheet before the day from libraries, customer service centres, pick one up at the meeting before it starts or use the online form.

Please hand your sheet to Karen Shann at the meeting. Please note that questions sent via the online form must arrive before noon on the day of the meeting.

Denton and Audenshaw District Assembly was formed in 1998 and is one of eight area-based panelsestablished by Tameside Council.

It provides a focal point for questions about public services and issues affecting the area and elected members, staff and many partners work to help develop and improve local services and, where possible, to facilitate local solutions to local problems.

Everyone involved with the District Assemblies works hard as a team, regardless of party political persuasion, to do the best for the area.

It's gratifying that so many people come to our meetings and we look forward to seeing more people over the next year.

Our District Assembly meets every few weeks. Every day, teams of Assembly staff are out and about making the streets cleaner and safer and working with others to provide more services and activities in our town.

So we hope you'll come along and get involved.

Achievements This Year

  • Friends Groups - established in a park in every ward (Granada Park, Victoria Park, Ryecroft Hall and Haughton Green Playing Fields.

  • Sports Court - St John Fisher Primary School - As part of the Denton South Partnership a new sports court at St John Fisher Primary School has been opened providing both school pupils use in school hours and community use outside school hours.

  • Victoria Park, Denton - Submitted a series of successful bids in partnership enabling £160K of external funding to restore the Grade II listed Victoria Park Bandstand and construct a series of three sports cages on the former tennis courts.

  • Denton Nursery - Replacement of an existing out of date, inefficient production unit based on polythene tunnels with a state of the art glass horticultural unit.

  • Environmental Campaigns - Ran a series of effective environmental campaigns to provide cleaner streets, 'Make a Space' and to combat dog fouling 'Not on My Street'. The early evidence suggests that the dog fouling campaign has reduced the number of complaints received.

  • Green Flag Awards - Victoria Park, Denton, Denton Cemetery and Ryecroft Hall, Audenshaw won Green Flag Awards for the quality of the parks/open spaces from the Civic Trust. Haughton Green Playing Fields also received a Green Pennant Award for managing a high quality green space.

  • Street Cleansing - The Council's street cleansing performance continued to improve which has placed the Council amongst the best performing Council's in the country for street cleansing.

  • Environmental Improvements - Lots of environmental improvements to improve the street scene have been carried out by the District Assembly, which includes street signing replacement and the development of sustainable planting schemes which remain green all year round and have been much admired.

  • Britain In Bloom - The floral displays within the town have contributed towards the Council's success in winning the North West In Bloom Competition in 2007 (for the third year in succession) and being nominated to represent the North West region in this year's national Britain in Bloom competition.
