Question Time

You have a chance to ask about local service at every meeting during Question Time, which forms part of the meeting. People wanting to ask questions are asked to fill in the question sheet before the meeting starts. You can get the sheet before the day from libraries, customer service centres, pick one up at the meeting before it starts or use the online form.

Please hand your sheet to Carolyn Eaton at the meeting. Please note that questions sent via the online form must arrive before noon on the day of the meeting.

Are you interested in how safe and clean your streets are, new facilities in your area - or new events or activities?

Droylsden District Assembly looks after many Council services and gives you a voice in your town.

We have responsibility for services that have a real impact on people's quality of life, from keeping our streets clean and litter free to making sure our parks are desirable places to visit. In addition to these vital services we also hold public meetings where local people can ask questions about any council service or can listen to what is going on in Droylsden.

Our District Assembly meets every few weeks. Every day, teams of Assembly staff are out and about making the streets cleaner and safer and working with others to provide more services and activities in our town.

So we hope you'll come along and get involved.

  • Stuart Eyres - Tameside Forum for Disabled People

Each District Assembly has an advisory group made up of representatives from voluntary and community groups, residents groups and local businesses. They also include a student representative from each secondary school in the area.

Achievements This Year

  • Droylsden South Marina Project - Droylsden is a changing town with the commencement of the Droylsden South Marina Project which has taken some years to bring together and will create huge improvement along the canal and in the centre of the town.
  • Littlemoss War Memorial Garden - has been successfully refurbished from an almost derelict site back to its former glory.

    This has been achieved by:
    • Removing existing brickwork to the front of the site and having the wall rebuilt to the same style and dimensions as the existing wall using new bricks.
    • Erection of new fencing the perimeter of the Memorial Garden.
    • New signage has also been erected making it clear that the site is the “Littlemoss War Memorial Garden.”
    • New seating within the Memorial Garden to make it an attractive and tranquil place to visit and spend time in quiet contemplation.
  • Environmental Improvement Works - The environment in Droylsden is constantly improving by small schemes being carried out the by District Assembly ranging from floral planting to parks improvements across the area.
  • Sunnybank Park and Floral Gardens - are both ear marked for further improvements particularly to bowling facilities in the Floral Gardens and further security and environmental improvements in Sunnybank Park.
  • Street Cleansing - The Council’s street cleansing performance continued to improve which has placed the Council amongst the best performing Council’s in the country for street cleansing.
  • Britain In Bloom - The floral displays within the town have contributed towards the Council's success in winning the North West In Bloom Competition in 2009 (for the fifth year in succession) and being nominated to represent the North West region in this year's national Britain in Bloom competition.
