Question Time

You have a chance to ask about local service at every meeting during Question Time, which forms part of the meeting. People wanting to ask questions are asked to fill in the question sheet before the meeting starts. You can get the sheet before the day from libraries, customer service centres, pick one up at the meeting before it starts or use the online form.

Please hand your sheet to Rosina Oliver-Lawlor at the meeting. Please note that questions sent via the online form must arrive before noon on the day of the meeting.

Hyde District Assembly was formed in May 1998 and is one of eight area based panels established by Tameside Council. The Assembly is viewed by many as the focal point for questions about public services and issues affecting the local area.

The Assembly is responsible for the upkeep of local parks, open spaces and roads. We work closely with the patrollers and police to improve safety and with youth workers to provide useful activities for young people.

Our District Assembly meets every few weeks. Every day, teams of Assembly staff are out and about making the streets cleaner and safer and working with others to provide more services and activities in our town.

So we hope you'll come along and get involved.

Achievements This Year

  • Promotion of musical events - The District Assembly has promoted numerous musical events throughout the year, including Hyde Live spring recitals, Hyde Park summer Brass Band recitals, Splendid Weekend, Autumn and Winter concerts.
  • Green Flag Awards - Hyde Park and Werneth Low Country Park won national Green Flag Awards for the quality of the parks.
  • Street Cleansing - achieved our best ever street cleanliness performance exceeding the very challenging performance targets for 2011/12 making Tameside one of the best performers in the country.
  • Environmental Improvements - Lots of environmental improvements to improve the street scene have been carried out by the District Assembly, which includes street signing replacement and the development of sustainable planting schemes which remain green all year round and have been much admired.
  • Tameside In Bloom - well received by judges and general public. Not only did the Council win the Large City title in North West In Bloom for the sixth successive year, but we also won the national Britain in Bloom city category with a gold medal. We were also awarded a Royal Horticultural Society Britain in Bloom special merit award for environmental quality and nominated to represent the United Kingdom in Entente Florale in 2011.
