Those that had been contacted by Victim Support but did not take up the offer did so for various reasons:

  • The scheme didn't offer what they required
  • I wanted to sort it out myself
  • Scared of perpetrator
  • It's my own trauma
  • I didn't want reminding of what had happened

From those who accessed Victim Support there were very positive comments about the scheme. In particular in they felt the information they received from Victim Support was very helpful and they found the scheme to be a friendly advice service.

Participants felt that the scheme couldn't have done much more to help. The only suggestions for improvements would be to provide more advice on how the victim could leave the relationship and that the profile of the scheme should be heightened to improve general awareness of it.
