Ashton Regeneration Area
Ashton Regeneration Area
Since its launch in 1996, almost half a billion pounds million worth of investment has been attracted into the town by the Ashton-under-Lyne Regeneration Project. As a result of this continued investment and the growing confidence in Ashton, the town has grown to be the third busiest in Greater Manchester!
The strap line adopted for the Project, "New Homes, New Jobs, New Pride" was chosen to highlight the current promotional initiative - 'Ashton Underlined' - and is being promoted through a successful targeted website.
This website - which can be visited at: www.ashtonunderlined.co.uk
- contains sections on completed developments, development opportunities and available sites and grants. There are also sections containing news items of interest to the local community, which are proving very popular.
Chair of the Ashton Regeneration Project, Councillor Jack Davis said: "Tameside Council along with the private sector have created an environment in Ashton, which is proving extremely attractive to investors and developers. As a result, many new jobs are being created that are being targeted at local residents. Ongoing developments on Ashton Moss including the creation of the Leisure Park, which continues to grow and the groundbreaking development at St.Petersfield will change the face of Ashton for the better. The arrival of IKEA’s first town centre based store in the country will create new jobs and will bring more money into the local economy improving the quality of life enjoyed by Ashton townspeople".
"The support for this campaign is broad and our partners trust in our team to deliver valuable and measurable benefits through this initiative has made them comfortable in contributing to the financial costs leading to these benefits. In the first three years of this campaign, over £100,000 was contributed from a range of sources, including both the Arcades and Ladysmith Shopping Centres as well as from small independent retailers and we are speaking with other businesses and stakeholders that want to come on board", he added.
To deliver a high impact promotional campaign, local regional and national advertising has been utilised as well as an innovative advertising campaign on regional radio station SmoothFM, which has created enquiries from right across the northwest. A brilliant article on Ashton-under-Lyne can be found in 'Ashton Life', a feature included in the quality lifestyle magazine 'Lancashire Life' focussing on this famous northern market town!
An on-line property search facility listing all available land, sites and property within the town is also available and is proving more popular than ever. Go to: http://propertysearch.evolutive.co.uk/tamesideMBChome.htm
